Perfect Vision attended a national staff training conference last weekend in the Barossa valley. The conference was run by Laser Sight Centres (LSC), one of the largest vision correction networks in Australia, and led by Yvonne Hutchins, National Manager of LSC and Anna Ocysek, Laser Sight’s Optometry
Education and Liaison Manager.
The program covered clinical training, focusing on LASIK and cataracts, as well as a media overview and information on optometrist reports for administration staff. Doctors and clinical staff attended a more intensive session including topics such as the Optical Quality Analysis System (OQAS), Keraring implants for Keratokonus patients, Descemet's Stripping Endothelial Keratoplasty (DSEK), and a look at Phakic IOLs (Intraocular lenses) for Clear Lens Exchange (CLE) patients.
Sunday was kicked off with a motivational lecture by guest speaker Michelle Ray, an internationally recognised and certified speaking professional, encouraging effective leadership and successful internal and external workplace relationships. Known as “the attitude adjustor”, Ray’s workshop inspired staff to evaluate perception, communication and service.
A private session was also held for Perfect Vision staff, led by Dr Con Moshegov who gave a comprehensive presentation on how iLASIK is a superior procedure, looking at how it evolved and why. Other topics included cataracts and lenses and the CLE procedure. The lecture was informative and entertaining and well received by the staff. A workshop also took place where staff had an opportunity to express themselves and brainstorm idea for the clinics.
The Novotel’s conference hall was brought to life on Saturday night by a whirl of dresses, as ladies swept in for the iBall. As men “talked shop”, the women got to work keeping the dance floor occupied. Guests reunited over a banquet filled with Barossa treats and the always irresistible chocolate finish.
But a weekend in the Barossa Valley would not be complete without a wine tour. All staff members were treated to a few hours of “free time” on Sunday afternoon, taking part in an organised wine tour of several of the finest wineries in the Barossa Valley. Laden with bottles, the Perfect Vision team retired early for another bright start on laser training the following morning.
Perfect Vision would like to thank Laser Sight for organising an informative, engaging and motivational weekend. We look forward to training with you again next year.
